From his second appearance on the Johnny Cash Show this is Ray Charles giving Johnny's No. 1 hit "Ring of Fire" a soul treatment. It was released on his then current country album "Love Country Style". Taped on Ray's 40th birthday this was aired on Sep. 23rd, 1970.
THIS AND OTHER GREAT PERFORMANCES ARE NOW AVAILABLE ON A 2-DVD-SET "BEST OF THE JOHNNY CASH TV SHOW". HIGHLY RECOMMENDABLE!!!
The Killer gave a dynamite performance on "Country Music - A Family Affair" in Nov 1980 including Great Balls of Fire, Over The Rainbow, Rockin' My Life Away, Don't Be Ashamed Of Your Age...
Another gem from the 1982 TV Special "25 Years of Jerry Lee Lewis": The Killer and Kris Kristofferson do a unique version of "Help Me Make It Through The Night".
This is "She's The Closest Thing To You That I Can Find" from the Midnight Special, probably 1976 or 77. I hope they will release those shows one day. The Killer was really rockin' on those tv shows back then. This is one of my all-time favourite country ballads of him. Pure chance I got this. Enjoy!
Jayhawks co-founder Mark Olson and the Creekdippers' Aug 29, 2006 performance at Substanz Club, Munich, Germany. Fellow Creekdippers of course are Victoria Williams and Michele Gazich on violin.
This Creekdippers performance was taped August 27, 2006 at Sinkkasten, Frankfurt/M, Germany. On the 2006 European tour Jayhawks co-founder Mark Olson once again was joined by Victoria Williams and Michele Gazich.
I have permission to show this by the artists.
The song is "Poor G.W.", written by Mark Olson and can be found on the Creekdippers' 2004 album "political manifest".
